Blwyddyn Newydd Dda – A Happy New Year to all of you.
Since the Orkney 2025 Island Games football draw was done, there have been some sides dropping out. We’ve still got both sides committed and training ahead of the Games. Due to the changes, we wanted to provide an update on the current state of the draw as the latest drop out has had a direct impact on our Ynys Môn sides.
This is our understandings of where things are at currently:

We will be seeking an update from the football organisers of Orkney 2025 as Menorca’s withdrawal directly impacts us.
** UPDATE – 22/01/25 **
An article in the Orcadian online (https://orcadian.co.uk/falklands-the-latest-football-team-to-withdraw-from-orkney-island-games/) advises that Falklands have withdrawn their men’s team from the football tournament. The article implies, without saying it in so many words, that all reserve team options have been exhausted. The organisers are now hopeful that the current figures of 10 men’s teams and 11 women’s teams will hold, with the draw remaining as outlined above.
