Gymnastics has been held as part of the Island Games sine 1989 although Male gymnastic events joined in 1991. Ynys Môn sent their first team in 1995 and have had a team at each competition since.
Due to the limit of between 12 and 14 different sports at each Island Games competition Gymnastics has been dropped on several occasions in recent times. Inter-Games tournaments have usually been organised as a replacement running before or after the official Island Games week. Ynys Môn hosted this tournament in 2015.
A total of 4 medals have been won by the gymnastics team, 2 silver medals and 2 bronze one of which was in a team event.
Gymnastics hasn’t been included in the programme of sports for the Guernsey 2021 Island Games.
