The Gibraltar 2019 Island Games took place from 6th – 12th July 2019. This was the second Games to take place on the peninsula of Gibraltar, the last time being 1995.
Ynys Môn sent a large team, although in some sports quite a young team, to compete at the Games in the following sports:
Athletics
Badminton
Cycling
Sailing
Shooting
Swimming
Ten Pin Bowling
Tennis
Triathlon
This will have have been invaluable experience for the many first timers at the Island Games with the hope the good progress can be made in time for Guernsey 2021.
Ynys Môn managed to win more Gold medals than the previous Games in Gotland 2017 however in terms of total number of medals it is the lowest since the Isle of Wight 2011.
The medals were won by 6 individuals from 3 different sports. Numerous Ynys Môn records were broken at the Games both in Athletics and Swimming. Plus several teams gave their best performances in a long time.
Gibraltar 2019 was a brilliant Island Games and the whole team enjoyed their stay on Gibraltar.
