The Gotland 2019 Island Games took place from 27th June – 3rd July 2015. This was the second Games to take place on the island of Jersey, the last time being 1997.
Ynys Môn sent teams to compete at the Games in the following sports:
Archery
Athletics
Badminton
Cycling
Football
Sailing
Shooting
Swimming
Tennis
Triathlon
Ynys Môn ended a fantastic week in Jersey with a massive 5 Gold medals and 3 Bronze medals. It’s the largest number of Gold medals we’ve ever won at a single Island Games beating the 4 Golds won in Shetland in 2005.
Athletics and Sailing took the medals with a clean sweep of all the Gold medals available in the Sailing won by Ynys Môn competitors.
A huge well done to all our competitors who came to Jersey 2015 and a special thank you to our hosts Jersey who put on an excellent Games.
The Inter Games gymnastics competition held on home soil – in Holyhead Leisure Centre – was also a huge success and showcased what Anglesey can offer going forward in plans to host the main Games in 2025!
