Before the fun of the Island Games in Guernsey, Ynys Môn will be sending a team of 13 gymnasts to the island of Åland for the Inter Games Gymnastics tournament.
As hosts of the Island Games, Guernsey was able to choose between 12 and 14 sports for a list. Unfortunately, gymnastics missed out, but thankfully Åland have decided to host the competition. Whilst this is not officially part of this year’s Island Games, it is very much an important tournament in the continued progress of our island’s gymnasts and will be played under the banner of the Inter Games between 5th-8th July.
The 13-strong team, led by coach Catherine Rowley, consists of six senior girls, six junior girls and one senior boy.
Ynys Môn Gymnastics Club has a proud reputation of developing gymnasts and provides all but two of the competitors in the team. Calla Woodcock and Peter Goldberg are both members of Bangor Gymnastics Club.
The Set and Team Competition will take place on Wednesday 5th July with the All Around Competition taking place on Friday 7th July.
