Barry Edwards, Athletics Co-ordinator, gave us this comment as the squad was announced:
“With 100 days to go until the 2023 Nat West Island Games kick off, it’s great to announce the Ynys Môn Athletics team for the Games in Guernsey this summer. This will be our largest ever team which consists of 30 athletes, some are previous medalists and finalists from previous games, and we also welcome several newcomers to the team who are sure to make an impact this summer.
I remember competing in my 2nd ever Games in the stunning island of Guernsey (back in 2003) and the facilities, organisation, set up and welcome we had from Guernsey then was exceptional and we look forward to much of the same this year. We know it will be another competitive games with plenty of talent, PB’s and hopefully plenty of medals coming back to Ynys Môn in the individual, relays & team events.
Everyone is training hard, preparing thoroughly and fine tuning to ensure we can give it our all and be as competitive as possible in each event. It will be an honour to represent Ynys Môn and as usual we will always ensure each athlete competes with a smile on their faces and have plenty of fun & enjoyment whilst running, jumping or throwing. We look forward to seeing everyone in July and celebrate in style”
