The Ynys Môn Men’s Football team secured another coup this week as Llanudno FC Manager and UEFA Pro License Candidate Iwan Williams joined Campbell Harrison’s setup as Assistant Manager.

With just under a year to go now until the island hosts the Inter Games Football Tournament in June 2019, the Men’s team stepped up their preparations once again this week by adding the vastly experienced and ambitious Williams to Harrison’s management team.

After a meeting between the duo this week, where both discussed the philosophy for the team and the ambitions they have to create a strong lasting legacy for the island following the tournament – set to be discussed at an open meeting for all of the island’s football clubs in Tafarn-y-Rhos on Thursday, June 28th from 7pm – Williams agreed to join Harrison’s team and spoke of his delight at being involved.

“It is a real privilege to be involved with the Ynys Môn Men’s Football side ahead of this fantastic tournament in 2019.” Williams said. “We have a real opportunity here now over the next year to plan and develop not just a team that is capable of winning the 2019 tournament, but to put in place the foundations for a legacy that can see our island’s footballing scene reach new heights and achieve big things in the years to come.

“I’m hugely excited to work with Campbell and I’m looking forward to helping him assemble his playing squad, which we’ll be looking to do in due course, and then to working with him on getting the best out of what is a very talented group of players.

“With hard work and a real team spirit, driven by the pride of representing our local area in a major tournament that we’re fortunate enough to be hosting, without a doubt I think we have what it takes to go out there and make Ynys Môn proud.”

Ynys Môn Men’s Manager Harrison added:

“I’m delighted to have been able to add Iwan to the team. He brings so much to the table in terms of his experience, his coaching ability and his drive to make sure that everything is done to the absolute highest possible standard.

“Working together will be very exciting! We’ve discussed our ideas for the way forward and we both share a massive enthusiasm for what can be achieved and put in place for our island, not just leading into 2019, but beyond that as well, and I’m really looking forward to putting all of that in place with Iwan and getting the rest of the island’s clubs involved in our plans too.”
