Shooting Team Announced for Guernsey 2023

Ynys Môn’s shooters have been announced for this summer’s Island Games in Guernsey in July. The team features plenty of experience with the addition of lots of new blood.

The team will be focussed on the clay aspect of the Island Games sport and will lead by Games regular Dave Jones. He, along with Steve Hayes, has competed in the past three Games going back to Jersey in 2015. These two will be competing in Olympic Skeet. Tim Garner (2015 and 2019), Dave Tavernor (2015), and Cat Duffy (2015) add to the team’s experience. They will be joined by debutants Neil Roberts, Ryan Cardwell, Martin Mansley, Andy Swindells, John Lloyd, Bonny Cunliffe, and Nia Dafydd.

Shooting is always a fiercely competitive sport at the Island Games with many of the island members competing to a good standard at the Commonwealth Games. Whilst recent times haven’t been as fruitful, Ynys Môn have medal history in shooting with our team picking up three golds in the Sporting Team in Aland 2009, Shetland 2005, and Guernsey 2003.

Good luck to all of our shooters, and of course many thanks to the team’s sponsors (Vaynol Gun Room, Môn 4×4, David Jones & Sons, Romero Sports & Leisure) who have helped the team get to the Games.
