Ynys Môn Women’s Football can confirm that silver-medal-winning coaching duo Karen Williams and Mo Eynon have relinquished their roles as Manager and Assistant Coach of the senior team after an incredibly successful period at the helm.
Karen took charge of the team for Jersey 2015 when the Ynys Môn Women’s team returned to competing at the Games after a 12-year hiatus. It was a tough first year for a very young and inexperienced side but through Karen’s leadership and management she helped the team improve, work as a team and use their experiences from Jersey to benefit them when competing in Gotland in 2017. Although they didn’t make it to a playoff match the performances were vastly improved. For the home Inter-Football tournament in 2019 Mo joined Karen on the coaching team. Together they had the team utilise the home crowds and play excellent football throughout. It was testament to the many years of hard work and dedication that the team took home Silver.
The Ynys Mon Island Games Association would like to place on record our deepest thanks to Karen, Mo and their staff for the fantastic work they’ve put in for football on the island over the years. Their efforts have laid very strong foundations for a new coaching staff to come in and build upon. Women’s football is in a great place because of them. Diolch yn fawr!
With less than a year now till the Guernsey 2023 NatWest International Island Games XIX the search for a new managerial team begins and Ynys Môn Women’s Football are now accepting applications for the position of Head Coach.
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside both experienced Island Games competitors and young talent raring to be given the chance to represent Ynys Môn.
