Two-time Oscar nominee and one of the most famous actresses in the world, Naomi Watts, has sent her best wishes to the island where she spent some of her years growing up, as she’s wished Ynys Mon well ahead of hosting a major international football competition next week.
Watts is President of Glantraeth Football Club on the island, one of 11 clubs selected to host matches during the Huws Gray Ynys Mon 2019 Inter-Island Games Tournament, which will be contested on the island from June 15th to June 22nd. She sent a video message of support which was published on the Ynys Mon Island Games Association Facebook page over the weekend.
The world-famous actress spent three years on the island as a child and attended school in Llangefni before going on to become a major movie star.
In the video, Naomi said:
“As president of one of the tournament’s host clubs, Clwb Pel-droed Glantraeth, I just wanted to wish everyone the best of luck and I hope the games go really, really well and that everyone has fun.
“I’m sending so, so much love – Wales is just such a special place in my heart and I say hi to everyone there and [I hope you] enjoy!”
